Netanyahu - Peace Talks with Palestine and Israel

Binyamin Netanyahu stated to the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee that he was interested in a fast paced and forward moving peace talks. Interesting talk from someone that was such a hardliner during the election campaigns. So what is the buzz now about peace talks?

Netanyahu - Peace Talks with Palestine and Israel

Netanyahu spoke about peace talks on three different levels. The precursor to the three different levels was that he said that there were no preconditions to the peace talks.

On the politics of the peace talks he said "The political track means that we're prepared to resume peace negotiations without any delay and without any preconditions, the sooner the better."

He then moved on to security "The security track means that we want to... strengthen the security apparatus of the Palestinians. This is something we believe in and something that I think we can advance in a joint effort."

Then lastly the economic level "The economic track means that we are prepared to work together to remove as many obstacles as we can to the advancement of the Palestinian economy."

Harsher Realities of Israel and Palestinian Peace Talks?

One huge key to peace is the dismantling of the settlements. The most positive step Israel can make is setting up pre-67 borders and stop the settlements. Eli Yishai, Mr Netanyahu's interior minister, was speaking to Israelis in East Jerusalem that "the Israeli government is a government of settlers and settlements." These words are very counter productive.

Khaled Meshal, who is an exiled leader of Hamas stated that "Hamas was eager to reach a long-term ceasefire with Israel and for that to lead to the establishment of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders." He however did not agree to renounce the 20 year old Hamas charter calling for the destruction of Israel. He did however politically cast the charter aside saying that "Hamas is shaped by experience".

Israelite Muslim

What does this Israelite Muslim think about the the peace negotiations? What would I do if I had the power to change things? Well I would evacuate the settlers that are on pre 67 land. I would not destroy the buildings and would give them to the Palestinian refugees. I would make an economic attempt to help the refugees and rebuild Palestine. Mainly I would help establish and build the Palestinian state. This is only the right thing to do.

Since the basis of Zionism was wrong and historically it came to the Holy Land riding the train of war there inherently some injustice in the present situation. However what also needs to be addressed is that Palestine is the religious center of the Israelites. It even states this in the Quran. For better or for worse the Israelites are in the Holy Land now and we must work to prevent further bloodshed rather than exacerbate the situation.

Arabs and Hebrews Raise your Voice of Peace

Having read this article about how Israel is Annexing East Jerusalem I feel an urgency for both Arabs and Hebrews to move ever faster for understanding between each other.

Many Israelis I have spoken to dislike and abhor the settlements. I am against settlements. I am against walls. There is only one solution for these actions and that is for brave people from both groups to reach out to each other. Brave people from both groups who want peace and believe in a non violent solution need to reach out to each other.

• Write about your beliefs to your leaders and newspapers


• Every Arab you deal with in the Holy Land or outside let them know your beliefs


• Study Arab culture, history, and religion (Islam and Christianity), only look for the positive things that tie you together


• Try to develop true deep friendships and relationships with Arabs

To Arabs both Muslim and Christian who believe in peace and equal rights for all human beings...

• Speak up to your friends and family about your beliefs


• Write about your beliefs to your leaders and newspapers


• Every Hebrew you deal with in the Holy Land or outside let them know your beliefs


• Study Hebrew culture, history, and religion, only look for the positive things that tie you together


• Try to develop true deep friendships and relationships with Hebrews

Overcome Yourself

The only real way to combat the terrible things BOTH sides do to each other is with actions which overcome fear, anger, and hate. A real warrior is one who overcomes his or her fear, does not hate their enemies and seeks the moral righteous way. The actions listed above allow anyone to be a true warrior. Young and old, male and female, healthy and sick, or any religion can be a warrior and real hero. It takes much more to confront your own inner fears, anger, and hate than to kill.
